We’re from the Water. Not the Classroom.

Kapitán v praxi grew out of the YachtBoat project.

We spend a large part of every season on the water — not as classroom instructors, but in real-world operations. And that’s exactly where our courses come from.

Many of the captains who now operate YachtBoat cruises started with this very course.

For some graduates, earning their licence became not only a new hobby, but also a great opportunity for seasonal work on the water.

How It All Started

Standard courses are often focused mainly on theory.

We wanted to build a course that makes sense in practice — one where you actually try out boat handling and understand it. No unnecessary theory on top. No stress. Just the way we’d want to experience it ourselves.

What We Do Today

We run private cruises on the Vltava and work with boats every day throughout the season.

Because of that, we know:

• How a vessel behaves in real traffic
• What situations actually arise on the water
• What you really need to know — and what’s unnecessary

All of this feeds directly into our courses.

How We Teach

We run courses in small groups so everyone gets enough time at the helm. 

We focus on:

• Hands-on experience
• Clear, straightforward explanations
• A calm, stress-free pace
